My dreams for WordPress plugin control have been realized

After months of planning an installation script (OK – occasionally thinking about planning one!), I have found the ideal plugin to control WordPress Plugins

If you have setup more than a couple of WordPress installations, or you want to offer an easy way for newcomers to install their own WordPress, you will know how tedious it can become repeating the installation of a list of “must-have” plugins.

Now the only “must-have” plugin is Plugin Central from Vladimir Prelovac. Install that, and anything else you want is only a couple of clicks away.

At last, I have an easy way to save time when I setup my own new WordPress blogs.

More importantly, the web traffic tool that I am currently developing needs some simple instructions for setting up a new WordPress blog. I planned to develop my own plugin to install from a list of recommended plugins, but now I do not have to. I also found an unexpected bonus, as you will see below.

WordPress Plugin Control List

Plugin Central installs in the usual way, and the options are few.

In my Installation Checklist for preparing WordPress prior to using my web traffic building tool, I have a list of essential WordPress plugins (more than one list actually, for different situations, bit that is for another day). I pasted the list into Plugin Central’s admin form, and could not believe my eyes as it instantly installed the lot!

Actually, there was one that did not install, as I had spelled it wrong in my instructions. No problem – I simply corrected the name of the plugin and it joined it’s friends in my Installed Plugins list.

Plugin Central Keeps You Updated

Plugin Central has an added bonus – it warns you on the Admin Dashboard when plugins need to be updated. I know this is handled quite well by WordPress, but it is much easier to get into the habit of checking the Dashboard every day for new coments, forum posts, and now, updated plugins. This is especially useful if you keep the Admin MenuBar minimized, which the red update warnings.

All in all, a great timesaver for WordPress plugin control.
